Le Chinaillon is a small typically French village where development has been
strictly limited by the Mayor in order to preserve its character. As
residents we are
very pleased about this and believe it all helps to make your holiday
a pleasant one.
There are 2 ski schools, one of which meets opposite our chalet and a nearby
ski hire shop. We will happily help you sort out classes and/ or equipment
hire when you arrive and as the lift passes are purchased nearby as well there
will be no delays getting you out on your first day. We have been skiing for
many years and for those of you who are happy without classes we can provide a
tour of the slopes so you can get to know the area and try our favorite runs.
For those who fancy trying cross country or nordic skiing there are several
circular 'courses' from Chinaillon which give you a chance to enjoy some
stunning scenery whilst getting a good aerobic work out.
For apres ski there are several on bars and restaurants at the bottom of the
slopes, with one
conveniently situated opposite our chalet. However, it is only open for the
early evening so there is no need to worry about being kept awake into the
early hours. For those of you like being kept awake there is a night club
and several bars a short walk away in the village which offer a choice of lively
entertainment or a quiet place to unwind.
There are many restaurants and cafes in Chinaillon which offer local
specialities such as tartiflette, savoyard sausage and the locally produced
roublechon cheese. If you would
like to eat out one evening please just let us know and we
will be happy to arrange this for you. There is also a cinema within easy
walking distance which shows different films each day, but please bear in
mind that they will be in French!
Those of you not skiing or boarding should visit Annecy, a lovely old city
built around a beautiful lake which reflects the mountains. It is a maze of
narrow alleys crammed with beautiful shops and cafes, you will be able to spend
many happy hours window shopping and find plenty of gifts to take home, either
for you or friends and family.
